AMA Superbike Rounds 6 and 7 - Rockstar Makita Suzuki Factory Racing Mat Mladin holds the record for all-time career pole positions with a remarkable 54. At Infineon this weekend, six-time AMA Superbike Champion Mladin rode a strong race on his Suzuki GSX-R1000 and finished in second place to give Suzuki a double podium. Mladin continues to lead the championship points chase.
"There was no catching Ben today, he was just riding too fast today. Congratulations to him and his team for a good race. Tomorrow, we'll come back and try to give it another shot on the Rockstar Makita Suzuki GSX-R1000" said Mladin.
After Sunday's race Mat had this to say - "We had the same results today, but the pace was a bit quicker. We got a few things sorted on the Rockstar Makita Suzuki GSX-R1000 and I felt more comfortable on the motorbike. But I still couldn't get on the back of Ben. We certainly made some improvements today, which made things better for me today. And we look forward to getting to the next race and building up some confidence. I've had five crashes this year and that's not like me to crash so much at the beginning of the season, so I want to build some confidence back up. So we'll move on and try to challenge Ben for some race wins because he won pretty handily this weekend."
The next round is at Miller Motorsports Park (where Scorpion is the official helmet) May 29 thrugh June 1, 2008.
Mat wears the EXO-700 Scorpion white, (see it) the same helmet anyone can buy off the shelf of your favorite dealer.
