(Lake Forest, CA June 29, 2010) You read the headline correctly, Rossi has signed with Scorpion to race with the new EXO-750 AirFit® helmet! No, not Valentino Rossi... Vale is still out of MotoGP competition until at least by Brno in August; we are referring to Scorpion-sponsored rider Louis Rossi. The French phenom is contesting the 125cc GP events for Scorpion Sports Europe this season.
Although he is just 21, young Rossi is making a real name for himself in his rookie season on the Grand Prix circuit. He was the runner-up in the 2007 French 125cc Championship and won the Challenge de l'Avenir. Rossi also finished an impressive 3rd at Donington Park at the final round of the British Championship. Based on these impressive results, the French Motorcycling Federation arranged for him to get a wildcard entry for the 125cc GP at Estoril and now a full time spot on the grid. Stay tuned as this Rossi works his way up the rankings with 13 races remaining.
Actually it is not that far-fetched of an idea for top-level racers to choose Scorpion. In fact, it wasn't that long ago that guys like 7-time AMA Superbike champ Mat Mladin and Ducati frontrunner Larry Pegram were both wearing Scorpion helmets.
Although it is a bit ironic that the newest racer on the GP circuit opted for the "Vintage" graphic! The Vintage EXO-750 Air helmet takes Scorpion's trademarked AirFit® technology and merges it with their proven fiberglass/Kevlar matrix shell for the best of both worlds. Best of all for racers and street riders alike, the lightweight shell still meets or exceeds all ECE/DOT safety standards and it approved for Rossi's use in world championship competition.
